Industrial Ergonomics Assessments & Surveys

Industrial Ergonomics Assessments & Surveys are completed by our qualified Chartered Ergonomists to ensure the highest possible level of service.

Industrial Ergonomics surveys cover areas that involve repetitive movements/actions, awkward postures, manual handling (including pushing and pulling) such as:

  • Manufacturing lines
  • Factories
  • Warehouses
  • Production lines
  • Complex processes
  • Repetitive upper limb tasks
  • Manual handling tasks

Industrial Ergonomics surveys are suitable for any areas within a worker’s environment where concerns have been raised. The objectives of the survey are to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), improve wellbeing and maintain/improve productivity.

Digital human modeling consultancy can also be provided at the early stages of design or during re-design.

Morgan Maxwell approach to Industrial Ergonomics

Morgan Maxwell applies the following process to complete the industrial ergonomics workplace survey:

1. Kick-off meeting

Chartered Ergonomist will hold an initial kick-off meeting to get a detailed understanding of the client’s needs and concerns. Ergonomist will take the client through the industrial ergonomics workplace survey process and organise agenda for the site visit. This is normally completed via an online meeting platform.

2. Site visit / Online review via video and photographs

  • Ergonomist spends time observing and interviewing employees during task completion.
  • Data collection of loads and frequency involved within the task.
  • Data collection of environmental factors that may affect the workers such as noise, lighting levels and thermal conditions.
  • Investigation into the social and psychological areas of the environment will be conducted by using Morgan Maxwell’s validated questionnaire alongside observations and interviews.
  • Debrief with management after onsite/online data collection.

3. Industrial Ergonomics Report completion

  • Easy to understand report with clear recommendations.
  • Use of Ergonomics based risk assessment tools to assess risk to your employees such as Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), Assessment of Repetitive Tasks (ART), Manual Handling Assessment Chart (MAC), Risk Assessment of Pushing and Pulling (RAPP) and the Muscle Fatigue Assessment Tool.
  • Application of legislation, ergonomics best practice and British (BS) European (EN) & International (ISO) standards will be incorporated where required.
  • A digital human modeling report can be provided if required.
  • After the report is supplied, a time can be arranged for discussion of recommendations and post-assessment support guidance from Ergonomist.

Morgan Maxwell also offers a two-day Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) Approved Industrial Ergonomics Training Courses designed to train your staff in the process of completing an ergonomics task assessment.

Some of our clients

What our clients say…

My company used Morgan Maxwell’s services to provide DSE training for our staff. The instructor was informative, helpful and went above and beyond to provide us with additional information and the course far exceeded my expectations.

Gregory Conroy, NHS

I found the 2 day Morgan Maxwell ergonomic champion training course to be interesting, informative and definitely gave me a better overall understanding of ergonomics in the workplace. Ten out of ten for both course and tutor, both of which I would have no hesitation in recommending.

Gerry Doherty, DuPont

We have worked closely with Morgan Maxwell for a number of years. Through working with Morgan Maxwell we have been able to deliver a comprehensive and valuable programme of industry CPD’s which have elevated our brand. We cannot recommend them more highly.

Claire Williams, OCEE Design

During the last two years I have been working very closely with Stephen Bowden on delivering various RIBA CPD presentations to the A&D community and I can not recommend him enough. Stephen is very professional, knowledgeable and he will always go the extra mile.

Bianca Modoranu, OCEE Design

Stephen spent a very well-received three whole days with our business conducting personal ergonomic assessments with 30 staff on postural awareness. Throughout his visit Stephen conducted his individual assessments with thought and care. Highly recommended.
